Dr. Stephen B. Lane, DVM
Diplomate (ACVIM)—Specialty of Neurology
Veterinary Neurology / Neurosurgery
A native of Colorado, Dr. Lane grew up in Colorado Springs and graduated from Colorado State University in 1985. Following a medical and surgical internship program in companion animals at North Carolina State University (NCSU) in 1986, Dr. Lane combined a strong interest in medical neurology and surgery by completing a 3-year residency at NCSU in neurology and neurosurgery. Dr. Lane became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine-Specialty of Neurology, in 1993. Dr. Lane spent 10 years in Toronto, developing a neurology and neurosurgery specialty practice in the first Canadian veterinary referral facility for companion animals. The Lane family and two Jack Russell Terriers, returned to Colorado in March of 2000.
Dr. Lane is dedicated to providing unmatched medical and neurosurgical care for companion animals in Colorado and the nation. This is possible with 24-hour specialized care, on-site magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), two dedicated operating theaters and a team of certified veterinary technicians and board-certified specialists.
Lori provides a wealth of specialty technical experience. Graduation from Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology in 1998 catapulted her into a career of specialty medicine and surgery at multiple specialist centers in Denver. Lori joined Rocky Mountain Veterinary Neurology in July 2003 and heads our technical team.
Driven for greater knowledge, Lori received her Technician Specialty Certification in Anesthesia in 2004, as the 17th member of the Academy of Veterinary Technician Anesthetists..
Lori became a member of the Academy of Internal Medicine for Veterinary Technicians in June 2011. Lori is one of 16 neurology members of AIVMT, a specialty organization of technicians that promote advanced skills in the discipline of internal medicine.
Furthering technical excellence, Lori continues to present short lectures, articles and book chapters on anesthesia and companion animal neurology topics for technicians. In addition, Lori maintains her membership with IVAPM (International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management) and VSPN.
When not working, Lori enjoys the benefits of Colorado. Hiking, biking, snowboarding, gardening and traveling are her favorites outdoor hobbies, in addition to spending time with her dog, Delilah.
Kayleen O'Leary, Neurology Coordinator
The Neurology/NeuroSurgery service is delighted to have Kayleen O’Leary join us in April 2008. As a seasoned employee of the VRCC, Kayleen brings a strong client service background and bubbly personality to our practice. “I enjoy working at the VRCC, being able to wake up each day and happy to go to work is a great thing.”
Kayleens time off from work is spent on the go with her son, Kenny, at baseball practices & games, and other outdoor activities. Kayleen also enjoys spending time with her two dogs, Brandi and Miracle, Miniature Pinchers adopted after near tragic circumstances.

Stacey McClain, AAS, CVT
Stacey remains a cornerstone to the Rocky Mountain Veterinary Neurology team. Stacey joined the Neurology team in August 2005, after attending Bel-Rea Institute and attaining certification in June 2005. When not devoting her free time to friends, family, lunches and shopping sprees with close friends, Stacey enjoys devoting time to her boyfriend, her English Bulldog, Mike, and cats Bella and Mazzy. Stacey also enjoys reading, movies, travel, hiking and listening to music.
Shana Pratt, AAS, CVT
Shana moved to Aurora, Colorado in 2002, after living in northern Virginia for 20 years. Shana worked in general practice for 7 years, and graduated from Bel-Rea in December of 2003.
Shana brings a strong surgical background and positive attitude to the neurology service, after working with the Veterinary Surgical Service at the VRCC.
Shana loves spending time with her husband Chris and 3 dogs, Rocky, Turkish and Sid. She also enjoys reading, movies, camping and skiing.
Kristen Kelley, AAS, CVT
Kristen joined the Neurology/NeuroSurgery team in August 2007, after graduating from Bel-Rea Institute in June 2007. Longing to fulfill her passion for animals as a CVT, Kristen left San Diego and a 10-year career in event planning. Kristen brings a sound work ethic and knowledgeable approach to the organization.
Away from work, Kristen enjoys her Arabian gelding, Cinnabarr and her cat Sophiegato. Reading, cycling and skiing take up whats left of her free time.
Jessica Marmolejo, AAS, CVT
Jessica joined Rocky Mountain Veterinary Neurology in July 2008, after graduating from Bel-Rea in June 2008. Jessica became interested in neurology after bringing her dog into RMVN as a patient, in 2006. Her upbeat and positive attitude is a welcome addition to the neurology service. Jessica became a certified veterinary technician in March 2009. Jessica enjoys spending time with her husband, Anthony, their Boston terrier, Kida, cattle dog, Penny and Siamese-mix shelter cat, Mike. As a Denver native, Jessica takes full advantage of Colorado’s outdoor recreational sports, including snowboarding and swimming. Other hobbies include reading, drawing and painting, and watching a good movie.
Karen Sosniak, AAS, CVT
A Chicago native, Karen moved to Colorado in 2005 to attend Bel-Rea. Following graduation in 2007, Karen worked in a thriving Denver general practice. After her dachshund, Ralphie, underwent emergency spinal surgery by Dr. Lane, Karen realized her dream to pursue her career in specialty veterinary medicine and joined the neurology team in August 2008. When not working, Karen enjoys time with her four dogs, Ralphie, Kiwi, Tiko and Wrigley and all outdoor activities Colorado has to offer.
Rhiannon Herron, AAS, CVT
Rhiannon joined Rocky Mountain Veterinary Neurology in May 2010, after graduating from Bel-Rea in March 2010. Rhiannon has 2 dogs, Crash and Tonic and was previously employed as a certified EMT. As a Denver native, Rhiannon enjoys four-wheeling in her jeep, snowboarding and spending time with her niece.
